José Luís Areal Alves da Cunha

José Luís Areal Alves da Cunha has graduated in Finance (1972/1973) from the Universidade Técnica de Lisboa (Instituto Superior de Economia, today the LISBOA School of Economics and Management of the Universidade de Lisboa) and obtained in 1986 a Master degree in Business Management at the same University.

He joined the Inspeção Geral de Finanças - IGF (Inspectorate General for Finance) in March of 1974 and subsequently undertook a career in the field of management, in both private and state owned organizations. In 1988, after passing the required examination, he enrolled as a Chartered Accountant (number 585 in the professional list), an activity he developed, from 1990 onwards, in the company he established, now known as Alves da Cunha, A. Dias & Associados, SROC, Lda.

His current work as a Chartered Accountant is carried out in different private, public  and state owned companies and entities, as a Statutory Auditor or integrating their supervisory bodies. Under its direction many audits have been carried out in order to attest the appropriate application of EU funds (ESF, ERDF, Cohesion Fund).

Until 2020, as Guest Associate Professor at the Lisbon School of Economics and Management (ISEG) he was responsible for the discipline of “Auditing” in the Management undergraduate degree and taught related subjects in the MBA and in various Postgraduate courses at this university.
